Paul Serusier painted numerous colour wheels in his quest to find a basis for colour harmony. However, he did not include a definitive version in his book ABC de la peinture, in which he wrote about clashes called “wrong notes”. Serusier explained that these wrong notes can be included, if used cautiously, taking care not to upset the overall harmony of a work.
