John Feryc. 1925

Maryhill Museum of Art

Maryhill Museum of Art
Goldendale, United States

John Fery is best known for the large works he painted to promote the Great Northern Railway. This later painting shows cliffs along the Columbia River, several miles upstream from The Dalles, Oregon. Mount Hood appears in the distance. A title, “Columbia River,” appears below the artist’s signature in the lower left-hand corner of the painting. A label on the back gives the title as “Palisades of the Columbia River.”
