Come Join Our Thrillin' Supper

Indieguerillas is an artist duo founded in 1999 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, by husband and wife, Dyatmiko "Miko" Bawono and Santi Ariestyowanti. In 'Come Join Our Thrillin' Supper', the two masked faces resembling the action hero Batman, protrude out of two heads appearing like 'wayang kulit' characters, with an object resembling a popsicle sandwiched between the figures. Rendered in bright pop colours and flat hard-edged shapes, the wall mounted objects that are both sculpture and painting, evoke the visual language of street art and graphic design and serve as a commentary on humanity's love affair with consumption and capitalism.
