Yi Gyu-won (a.k.a. Maneun, 1833-1901) was a governor of Jeju-mok who took the office in 1891 (28th year of the King Gojong's reign). Records say that as a Jeju governor he worked hard to keep order and bring peace to the islanders who had been troubled by the Kim Ji's revolt, and relieve them from the heavy tax and tributes, "tributary horses" in particular, levied by the central government. There are several remains related with him remaining today including a royal edict of appointment to the governorship and a commander's flag
