Portrait of a common mallow (Malva sylvestris), by an unknown photographer, taken from a glass plate negative manufactured by The Imperial Dry Plate Company of Cricklewood, London. These 'Special Rapid Orthochrome' plates were renown for their exceptionally high quality - hence the beauty of this image.
