Known for her loose free-flowing style with a strong realistic streak, Bruton specializes in both mixed media painting and collage. Many of her collages employ mundane objects as the key to getting at a deeper memory or concept. This piece features a white ghost-like figure, amongst black ground a fog-like atmosphere, and writing and diagrams are softly painted into the fog. There is an implication of a landscape in the background, and yet the piece feels isolated.
