This half-armor, completed by a Maximilian-style armet with a large opening, is typical of the equipment used by the Germanic infantry corps during the first half of the 16th century. During the Italian Wars (1494–1525), French cavalrymen and squires had to go into combat on numerous occasions against soldiers protected with such armor.
A sober design, since it was produced in large numbers, this half-armor is characterized by its braided raised sections on the outside of the armet and breastplate, but also by the tassets attached to the loin guards via leather straps.
