The Walking Together Mining Memorial commemorates the 106 coal miners who died as a result of disasters at Markham Colliery, Derbyshire in 1937, 1938 and 1973. The memorial consists of 106 steel figures creating a walking trail between the site of the colliery (now demolished) and the nearby village of Duckmanton, where the miners lived. The figures represent the miners walking between their home.
The memorial was designed by Stephen Broadbent, a British sculptor who specialises in public art.
