In this ballet Gérard Lemaître places a strong emphasis on expression and feeling: on the relationship between two young people and their sense of uninhibited love. Even though Lemaître himself called 'Concerto en Sol' a pas de deux, his ballet is non-confirmative and does not restrict itself to the schema of a traditional pas de deux.
