Bust of a middle-aged man, slightly turned to the left. Long face. Thin mouth and nose. Thin, dark eyebrows. Brown eyes, accentuated dark circles. Flushed faces. Powdered hair, curled at the ends, with ponytail detail and black bow on the right. Red coat with gold trim. Gold waistcoat, white lace jabot. On the left side of the chest, a red rose window surrounding an oval medal with, in the center, between diamonds, the cross of the Order of Christ. Below this, insignia of the Order of Christ. Dark green background. The portrayed is José Luís de Castro, the 2nd Count of Resende (Lisbon, 19 August 1744 — Lisbon, 23 March 1819). He held the post of Viceroy of Brazil for about eleven years, from June 4, 1790 to October 14, 1801.
