This Cong is a ritual item used in sacrifices to the earth by the Liangzhu culture that flourished along the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The presence of this jade Cong at the Sanxingdui site indicates that exchanges occurred between the upper and lower Yangtze over 3,000 years ago.
