View of a courtyard at the Varadharaja Perumal temple in Kanchipuram. A tall, narrow kisok with four carved pillars and a carved, bell-shaped roof stands at the center of the courtyard in front of the gopura, or temple gate pyramid. A stone porch, or mandapa, surrounds the gopura, and two additional, ornately carved buildings stand on the right and left sides of the courtyard.
