The Sagrada Família school served the children of the workers building the basilica.
Despite being a minor work, it is one of the clearest examples of Gaudí’s functional approach and move towards rationalism. In it the architect combined the Catalan architectural tradition with the essence of his ruled surface geometry. The building is notable for its vertical planes, whose conoid shape makes them self-supporting. The roof is inspired by the conoid shape of the leaves of various plant species, which enables excess water to be expelled from their surface, as is the case with Gaudí’s roof.
