From American Logs building instructions: The building of various models with American Logs is extremely simple as the hewn notches fit together accurately and compactly. Note particularly that one of the split sections should be used at the top to give a smooth and unbroken surface on which roof rests. When this method of building is followed it is possible to lift the entire design and move it from place to place. Note how rigid the models are when finished�they do not fall apart when handled�and how the hewn effect on the logs gives the realistic appearance of the pioneer construction used so effectively by the Early American Settlers. But the Halsam company was not promoting just the making of century-old log cabins. It offered designs for modern structures too, including a picnic table, a roadside stand, and lean-to.
