Elgo Plastics offered the American Skyline construction set in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Consisting of column segments, vertical panels, and flooring panels, the sets encouraged building models of the 20th century skyscrapers that arose in American cities after World War II. Originally offered in flat boxes, the sets later appeared in tall rectangular canisters with a metal base and lid. When the Halsam company, and its Elgo Plastics division became part of Playskool Manufacturing, the parent company discontinued making the American Skyline sets.
