In the 1930s and 1940s, the company that produced Lincoln Logs construction sets also offered other building toys and play sets. Capitalizing on the name of the 16th president, the Chicago toy maker made wooden Lincoln Bricks, Lincoln Stones, Lincoln Barnyards, and other building sets. Lincoln Bricks appeared in the 1930s featured "bricks made of wood." The construction play involved building structures by applying mortar from a tube to keep the bricks in place. Instructions included in the set suggested that the mortar could be removed by chipping it off the bricks or submersing the bricks in water so that the construction pieces could be reconfigured into another structure.
