Lincoln Logs were designed by John Lloyd Wright, son of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, after father and son traveled to Tokyo in 1916 to supervise the construction of Wright Senior's Imperial Hotel. Wright Junior used the association with the 16th president to market his construction set as a particularly American toy. The gimmick worked.
