This work is structured by means of a grid that divides the surface into different spaces loaded with symbolic elements. José Gurvich, in the search for new expressive languages, tries to escape from the orthogonal grid, organizing the composition in a more open and liberated way. The play of the curvilinear outline frames the succession of ivory and black, highlighting the textures of incision and carving on the wood. The contrasting sumptuousness of the chiaroscuro reveals the forms of Gurvich's symbolic universe. In the upper part of the work, a series of elements appear that manifest the legacy of Joaquín Torres García, not only with respect to his imagery, but also, and principally, to his metaphysics.
