Goa stones were a secret medication made by Jesuit pharmacists in the 17th century, a manmade version of the bezoar stones, which included other medicinal substances. It was amass made of bezoars, clay, iodine, crushed shells, amber, musk, resin and sometimes strange materials such as narwhal (believed to be a unicorn) horn's shivers, precious gems, corals and pearls. It was renowned as an antidote for serpent, scorpion and insect bites.
