This painting was previously titled incorrectly as ‘St Michael’s Mount’. A possible subject matter may be the Castello Aragonese, an historical monument on the island of Ischia. The monument stands on a volcanic rock connected to the island by a bridge built in 1438 by Alfonso of Aragon.
The oil on canvas depicts four figures on the shore, one pointing to the mount in the distance. Two rowing boats are seen on the water, one with four figures, and the other with three. A large royal-like vessel can also be seen on the water.
