Contract Between Ludwig van Beethoven and the Publisher Artaria & Co.

According to this contract, Artaria took over the engraving of the Trios op. 1 for 212 Gulden; he undertook to deliver 400 copies to Beethoven for 400 Gulden and to buy back the plates for 90 Gulden. For two months, Beethoven secured the sale of the edition in Vienna for 1 ducat per copy. Thereafter, Artaria was allowed to sell the work on its own account.
