"Convicts from the Greene County prison camp"

This photograph depicts convicts at the Greene County prison camp attending the funeral of their warden who was killed in an automobile accident in May 1941. The photographer was Jack Delano of the Farm Security Administration. Arthur Franklin Raper, the creator of the collection in which this photograph appears, was interested in rural poverty in the depression era south.
