Convoy of Turkish Prisoners

In 1877 Nicolae Grigorescu was invited by Prime Minister I. C. Brătianu to accompany the Romanian troops in the War of Independence to document the events, as an artistic reporter. As a result of this experience, numerous drawings and sketches of great expressiveness were born, which were the basis of extensive compositions, made later, such as the present work.
