Corks , a particularly useful insulator and gasket material is easily destroyed by certain species of fungi. Both these sheets of cork were subjected to attack by six different types of fungi in a test conducted by scientist of the General Electric company. The sample at the right has been impregnated with the fungicide and successfully withstood the attack. The untreated sheet at the left is almost completely covered by the fungi and is ready to disintegrate at a touch.
