Sydney John Bunney (1877-1928) is known for his accurate
views of Coventry streets and buildings. The Herbert has over five hundred of
Bunney’s pencil and watercolour drawings of Coventry. This view of Spon Street
and Melbourne Road shows a part of Coventry that was not often painted by other
artists. Bunney often focuses on the red brick roofs and timber-framed
buildings covered in vigorous plant life.
