Commissioned by Zanobi della Frasca for the high altar of the Camaldolite church of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Florence, in 1593 this panel was replaced by a canvas by Alessandro Allori (now in the Gallery of the Accademia) and sent to the Abbey of San Pietro at Cerreto, near Certaldo. In the Uffizi since1864.
