Corset

Corset, hand-fitted by a London firm, thought to have cost £30. Made of pink elastic and flower printed organdie. Full length with frill of pleated pink chiffon around top of thighs. Strapless with underwired cups, and pink velvet ribbon to tie round back to ensure corset fits close to body. Suspenders on pink satin ribbon attached.

Undergarments were essential in the 1950s in order to create the ultra feminine hourglass shape. The boning sewn into this corset gives it structure and firmness, whilst the stretch fabric gives a bit of comfort. Its strapless design makes it perfect for wearing under a glamorous evening dress.
