The Corvette Cataluña sailing before the coast of Barcelona. This ship was built in Blanes (Girona) in 1872 by shipwright Ramón Vieta. On April 19, 1872, it was registered in Barcelona under the name “Dolores”, with the Garriga y Baldiris company as its owner. In 1883, the ship was acquired by the Gusi company, being purchased on October 6 by Francesc Gusi i Mercader and Francesc Sala i Coll, who renamed it the “Cataluña”. On August 23, 1887, the corvette Cataluña was wrecked on the Bahama Banks, with the entire crew surviving.
