Coulee Dam, Wash. Rotor for one of two giant 65,000 horsepower motors, built by the GE Company for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, being installed at Grand Coulee Dam. Second to none in power and size, each motor weighs more than 330 tons and will drive a pump capable of pumping 660,000 gallons of water per minute, enough water to daily supply a city the size of NY. Because of their tremendous size, the motors had to be partially dis-assembled before they were shipped to the dam-site.
