Covid On My Mind

From the Artist: During the Pandemic, I have been mostly isolated at home in my studio. I began a series of self-portraits, beginning with contour line drawings and progressing to other drawings that included multiple linear elements and shading and color. For this self-portrait collage I referenced my contour drawings and began to use pieces of various textured and patterned papers, one of which I had previously mono printed. By looking intently in the mirror, I noticed that I had more anxiety about Covid than I realized. Mirrors do not lie. I had been pursuing the frustrating process of searching for an appointment for the vaccine. This portrait, done in early February of 2021 reveals and expresses the anxiety many of us have been feeling during this time.
