Craft set:Tinkercraft Kit No. 1

The Tinkercraft Kit represents a departure from the other products of the Toy Tinkers company. The Evanston, Illinois firm, best known for the Tinkertoy construction set, also offered other toys, including this kit with all the parts and materials necessary to create 12 little Safety First Dog Houses, small receptacles for storing used razor blades. The company recommended that the makers of these storage boxes sell them for 25 cents each. The Toy Tinkers boasted in its advertising that the craft kit provided three important functions: recreation, education, and compensation and that if the youngsters sold all of their Safety First Dog Houses, they would earn twice as much money as they spent buying the Tinkercraft Kit.
