Wooden furniture provides a house with a bright and warm atmosphere. During the Joseon Dynasty, scholars also brought in other pieces of furniture, including seoan (a small wooden table for reading) and sabangtakja (a rectangular table that displays stationery), in their rooms. They were consistently applied with a consistent light and concise design to clear a user’s mind. This work, a four-layered sliding cabinet, was produced with the artisan Jeong Jongsang’s technique, who burnt the surface of paulownia wood black to make the wood grain stand out.
