Program from the premiere of Primitive Mysteries (1931) for Martha Graham and Dance Group's performance at The Craig Theatre in New York City on Monday, February 2,1931. The dances featured on the program were Dance (1929), Lamentation (1930), Moment Rustica (1929), Adolescence (1929), Project in Movement for a Divine Comedy (1930), Harlequinade (1930), and Heretic (1929). In addition to the premiere of Primitive Mysteries, Martha Graham also debuted two additional works that evening: Bacchanale (1931) and Dolorosa (1931).
The Craig Theatre was located at 152 W. 54th Street in New York City, it opened in 1928. Later known as the Adelphi, Leonard Bernstein made his Broadway debut there as a composer with "On the Town" on December 28,1944. The Craig Theatre was demolished in 1970.
