Dramatic works continued to be the flagship at Czech Radio even after November 1989. The relaxed atmosphere of the 1990s opened the door to more courageous and unconventional con-cepts for dramatic radio works. A good such example is the original play The Birthday by the actor, improviser and radio present-er Jaroslav Dušek from 1991. This farce about a married couple who do not notice that they have lost their son had an excellent cast with Pavel Landovský, Nina Divíšková, Marie Rosůlková and others.
