Louise says: "It was a pleasure to paint Cristina who is an ICU nurse. I was first contacted by her partner Jose who asked for a colourful portrait to give to her as a surprise! I’m a big fan of surprises so was more than happy to be co-conspirator.

This was a fairly new experience for me as I usually draw portraits using graphite on paper but when Jose said he wanted it to be in colour I offered to do a digital piece as I didn’t have paints with me in lockdown and it was a good opportunity to practise a new skillset. This was really fun to make and it was great to have the opportunity to do something for the NHS heroes to show my thanks for their bravery, hard work and dedication."
