Crystal Palace Park has been one of London's major sporting venues since its creation in the mid-19th century. It has hosted football, cricket, motor racing, athletics, archery, cycling, indoor and outdoor bowls. Between 1956 and 1964 a large portion of the park was redeveloped to house the National Sports Centre, seen here in the centre of this aerial photograph.
