Beyond creating photographs in a realistic manner, Squillante tends toward abstractions through motion, close-ups, and the reshooting of actual prints. The freedom of expression and experimentation allowed through digital shooting produces works “that derive their power not from the subject itself but from the basic elements of visual art: light, line, shape, form, texture, color, and composition.”
