Man's double-breasted black wool cloth tailcoat with M-notched fall collar; wide, angled lapels; five bound buttonholes at each lapel; center front closure does not meet when worn; three round black plastic buttons [later addition] on proper right side applied to buttonholes; five black silk floral voided velvet-covered round buttons on proper left side of center front opening; single voided velvet-covered button on proper right breast, below lapel [four buttons missing]; long, set-in sleeves cut in two pieces, eased in at top; four inch slit opening at cuff with three small voided velvet-covered buttons [one missing proper right, three missing proper left] and bound buttonholes; waist seam with three-quarter inch peplum extending at an angle towards tails in back; angled shoulder seams set far in back; princess seams and center back seam; waist seam; covered button above two pleats in tails; slit pocket in each pleat; covered button at lower edge of each pleat; CB slit; black silk lining padded and decoratively quilted at sides of back and tails; sleeves lined in white cotton with red woven pinstripe.
