During his 38-year-long period of scientific travels, Cvijić had covered around 500,000 square kilometres. He had travelled the whole of Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Istria, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Alps, south France, Sicily, southern Russia, Crimea, and Norway. He had published volumes of scientific results in studies of limestone, geology, anthropological geography, ethnology, and limnology.
