Saitama prefecture , Japan

These haniwa have a simple, cylindrical shape. They are the most commonly found haniwa, usually arranged like fences on top of and surrounding the edges of the kofun. On the body of the haniwa, which is divided into sections horizontally by belts, there are round holes and traces of brush marks used to shape the piece. There are two types of these haniwa: typical cylindrical haniwa and bell-shaped cylindrical haniwa whose upper portion opens wider than the rest.
