Cypripedium macranthum is a species of orchid. Cypripedium species are commonly known as lady's slipper. It is native to Russia, Mongolia, Japan, Korea and China. The flower has three acute petals with the third a striking slipper-shaped lip, which is lowermost. Flowering in May to July. This plant has become rare and close to extinction, due to an ever shrinking natural habitat and over-collection, people prizing the flowers for their beauty.
