The Whale

The fertile daughter of society and art, The Whale was born as a means of dialogue between walls, navigating a sea of near-imperceptible cracks and breaching from an ocean of cobble. By Joe da Silva/Arca dos Invisíveis/ Le Musée de L’Invisible, the project consisted in the drafting of a collective letter, written inside the lines of the world’s largest mammal, as a way of encouraging conviviality through art. The letter was painted onto the facade of the former Matarazzo Hospital so it could be read by all those visiting Made by... Feito por Brasileiros. Producing the mural became a community activity, with other artists, exhibition hands, officials, local labourers, people from the neighbourhood and passersby all getting involved in the aura of CREATIVITY.
