In 1893 Gustave Loiseau exhibited with the Neo-Impressionists for the first time at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris. Following a period of Pointillism, he developed his own individual style of Post-Impressionist painting, although he frequently borrowed motifs from Claude Monet. This sketch-like view was also created in the footsteps of his role model.
