Castle of Clos Lucé
Amboise, France

Leonardo da Vinci initially thought about having the tank pulled by horses, but the high likelihood of these being frightened by being enclosed in such a tight and noisy space made him change his mind. As a result, he designed an entire system of cogwheels, lantern pinions and cranks to move the tank powered by "8 men". Fitted with cannons all around and a turret, also armed, this equipment was supposed to push aside the enemy.
