This book is part of First-Carved Tripitaka Koreana which was published in the eleventh century. Along with commentaries on the Tripitaka and Re-Carved Tripitaka Koreana, it is representative of Goryeo xylograph. It is the 18th volume of the so-called 80-volume Ju (周) dynasty edition of the Avatamsaka sutra. The woodblocks of First-Carved Tripitaka Koreana were kept at Buyinsa Temple in Daegu, but they were destroyed in a fire during the Mongolian invasion of Goryeo.
