These works were commissioned and purchased by Pope Pius VII to replace the art works which had been plundered by Napoleon. The works found in the Gipsoteca are the models of the marbles found in the Vatican Museums. Damoxenos adopts an angry and deceitful attitude. The right arm is pulled back and hidden ready to strike the deadly blow, the hand is rigid, the waist arched, the head is moved forward as compared to the chest and the face shows all the signs of a vile brutality.
