Dances, ceremonies and special occasions continued to show social status and power in 1880.
The 1880 silhouette shows a change with a lower waistline and shoulder, cutting the the length for the torso as well. Under this new style of dresses, the corset became more common as it was associated with beauty and slim figure.

The front of the corset is triangular with an oval shaped neckline from back to front; formed by vertical lace stripes from the neckline and armholes, creating a feminine silhouette.
