Dance Garment

Dances, ceremonies and special occasions continued to show social status and power in 1880.

The overskirt was confectioned with draped red velvet to exaggerate the back of the dress, made with knowledge in mind to be comfortable during dances or to attend the opera.

Utilizing some cushions under the waistline on the back part of the dress as an adaptation from the bustle.
