The right-hand screen depicts a woody field around the Gion shrine and the left-hand one shows a birds-eye view around the Kamigamo shrine. This pair of screen were supposed to be painted by the School of Kano Mitsunobu, who was the one of leading painters in the 17th century Kyoto. They depict excursions by various people around trees of cherry blossoms in the Higashiyama area. At the center of each screen, many people dance around in a circle. Some people disguise themselves as fancy characters. In the left-hand screen, three men dressed up as "Namban-jin (European people)" are dancing in the center of the circle.
