Danesfield House was first built in the mid-18th century on the site of an Iron Age hillfort. Over time the house was rebuilt and altered, and it was used briefly as a school before it was requisitioned by the Royal Air Force. As RAF Medmenham it specialized in photographic intelligence. The photograph clearly shows various military buildings that had been erected in the grounds.
